The BEST ship is not actually the BEAST ship.
The BEST being : TIME WISE.

This game is all about time, less time you consume, more time for you to do other stuff.
- Efficiency and Productivity is the key for new comers and starters alike.
- Downside is that it is hard to build due to the scarcity of Xeons
- Most reliable to do fast runs ^_^
my best bet is to invest on  NIGHTMARE 

 

NIGHTMARE is no doubt the FASTEST ship to do MOST of your quests for PVE as a LOWBIE (low level player)

•  ENABLES you to GET PLANETARY BUFF , faster with its fast ETA

• GIVES you the advantage to repeatedly attack Alien planets if youre again starting from scratch

Requires :

• These Xeons can be collected through mining however you have to convert them into Xeon Tier 1

My second best bet is to invest on PHANTOMS (the more, the merrier)
Phantoms aren't really as tough however if you build all your colonies to ramp with Phantom Control Center
SWARM is the key to building Phantoms

 

• Easy to build, and can kill top tier ships considering their numbers
